About Akemi
I was born in Tokyo and now live in Melbourne, Australia. I'm married with three children. I believe that art is not merely about beauty, but that it has the power to give energy to the viewer and to heal the heart. With the theme of harmony with nature, I'm inspired by the environment around me, depicting flowers, trees, the sea, mountains, the sun and the moon. I value beautiful color tones and fine details, aiming to create works that inspire hope, peace of mind and empowerment.

Background and Influence
My roots lie in a Shinto family, where my grandfather served as a priest. Shinto teachings, emphasizing harmony with nature, and the deep sense of gratitude towards the environment that I cultivated through Feng Shui, have a great influence on my work. The environment around us deeply impacts our thoughts and our hearts, so I aim to harness this influence in my daily art-creating process. Furthermore, through my creative work in Tokyo, Munich, Alsace and Melbourne, I've learned about various cultures and aesthetic sensibilities, helping to broaden my perspective on art. I am always striving to create works that resonate with the heart.

New Challenges and Hopes
I became a full-time professional artist at the age of 51 and work hard every day, dedicating myself to my craft. I want to deliver the message to people of my generation that "it is never too late to pursue your dreams!"
I believe that, no matter our age, we can tackle new challenges, enrich our lives, and make every day shine. And, through my art, I hope to contribute to youth mental health care initiatives so that children in any situation can have hope for the future and live with a smile.
